You installed SL before Office, yes Office is designed for PowerPC macs, but luckily, Apple designed a solution for that, called Rosetta, that translates the PowerPC Binaries to Intel Binaries.

This was a standard install on 10.4, Tiger, 10.5, Leopard, and in order to get down up to 7.0 GB HD savings on SL, they decided to make Rosetta an optional install.

You want the optional installs mpkg.

Run it. It should be pretty self explanatory from there.

Also, looking at the sizes, i remember Rosetta only being 1.9MB, surly Apple should have made this part of the basic install.
